Meet Steven

Steven B. Grant
Steven B. Grant was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in North Potomac, Maryland. After graduating Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, Grant went to the Robert H. Smith School of Business as freshman at the University of Maryland, College Park and took full advantage of the available opportunities including learning abroad in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He interned with multiple financial institutions including the mutual fund firm First Investors; the insurance firm John Hancock; and the investment firm Smith Barney in Bethesda, MD.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Steven became an Investment Advisor with Morgan Stanley after passing FINRA’s Series 7, 66, and 31; plus being a life and health insurance agent for Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia. However, Steven Grant set out to further his education by attending the University of Baltimore and the Florida Coastal School of Law.

During his law school career, Steven B. Grant traveled to the China School of Political Science and Law in Beijing, as well as the University of the Netherlands Antilles and received a Certificate in International and Comparative Law with his Juris Doctor. He worked for multiple law firms and in his last semester became a paralegal for the Special Prosecutions Division of the State Attorney for Florida’s 4th Judicial Circuit.

After passing the Florida Bar and taking the Oath of Admission, Mr. Grant went looking for work and found a client instead of a boss and created the Law Office of Steven B. Grant as he made the move from Jacksonville to Boynton Beach Florida. In the next three years, Mr. Grant would be admitted to the Washington, DC Bar; the Maryland Bar; and the West Virginia Bar, in order to better represent his clients in Florida and the Mid-Atlantic Region. As a lawyer, he wanted to get involved civically and soon became the Chairman of Boynton Beach’s Financial Advisory Committee. There he was able to make recommendations to increase revenues and decrease expenditures.

In 2015, Mr. Grant realized there was an entrenched political status quo more interested in maintaining power than leading Boynton Beach into the 21st Century. So when the 2016 mayoral election rolled around and Grant didn’t see anyone on the ballot worthy of his vote, he decided to vote for himself and run for office. With his Australian Shepherd, Daisy, Steven campaigned and spoke with anyone who was willing to have a conversation.

With the City’s new law requiring a 50% majority Steven was in the runoff for Mayor and after being outraised by more than $50,000.00 became the youngest Mayor in the City’s history. Grant campaigned on a platform to save Boynton’s Historic High School, protect the environment and expand the City’s economic base. His first term found him keeping all three promises and then some.

Currently, Steven B. Grant lives with his wife Jenna and daughter Esti in the Golfview Harbour Community. They are joined by two dogs George and Daphne and cat Snickers.
